You heard it here first - If mama don't laugh, it ain't funny - and truer words were never said.  My mama did not laugh when my older brother and I, playing with matches, accidentally set the woods on fire behind our house.  My mama didn't laugh when we dropped the cat out of the hayloft upside down to see if it would land on its feet.  She might have giggled a little if we hadn't also put the cat in a paper bag before dropping it.  (The cat did land on its feet, completely unharmed).

My mama didn't even laugh when I told her all these things, including my most recent transgression - referring to her as an "old woman" on my blog - were all my older brother's ideas.  But despite everything I did to try to make her laugh, my mama does love my book, If Mama Don't Laugh, It Ain't Funny, because she always told me that someday I would have kids just like me.  She's laughing now and she has proof that mama ain't wrong, even if she ain't exactly right.
