If Mama Don't Laugh
It Ain't Funny!

Three Questions With
Lucy Adams

_________

What is your book, If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny, about?
If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny, is a collection of my funniest newspaper columns about parenting, marriage, and family life. Subjects span the gamut from fielding children’s questions like, "What’s worser, Daddy gassing or being in love?,” to testing the limits of an (almost) empty can of red spray-paint. In essence, it exposes the everyday minutiae for what it really is – hilarious.

Why did you write If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny?

I wrote If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny to prove there’s more laughter to life than we allow, and that most of the giggles, if we let them, happen at unexpected and even inconvenient times. I wrote it because we all tend to live from big moment to big moment, just muddling through the routine stuff until the next BIG moment happens. It reminds me that life progresses in baby steps. And finally, I wrote it because, as a syndicated columnist, a book is the natural next stage in my career.

Why will your readers enjoy If Mama Don’t Laugh, It Ain’t Funny?
If Mama Don't Laugh, It Ain't Funny is a lighthearted retreat into the simpler life that we all crave and we all truly have, even if only in sentimental memories. The reader and I share a good laugh over experiences that bind us together in the daily grind and inspire us to appreciate all that is good in life.
